Ashtin Rogers
White River Medical Center
My name is Ashtin Faith Rogers, and I currently hold the position of Associate Chief Nursing Officer at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. I am known for my dedication as a servant leader, my active involvement in the community, my commitment to lifelong learning, and being a Christian mother of two, alongside my husband of ten years. Throughout my career, I have made substantial contributions to the field of nursing, while also actively engaging in community initiatives and pursuing continuous education.
Having been born and raised in this area, my love for the community drew me back here after completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Central Arkansas. It was here that I began building my family and advancing in my profession at White River Medical Center over the past 11 years. Initially, I worked as a charge nurse on the Medical-Surgical Unit for two years before taking on my first leadership position as the Clinical Nurse Manager for the Behavioral Health units. This role became my passion, and I spent five years nurturing my expertise in psychiatric nursing and leadership. Seeking further growth as a leader within our organization, I transitioned to the role of Manager of Patient Experience and Nursing Recruitment and Retention. Little did I know that this role would prove vital during the Covid Pandemic and the subsequent nursing shortage that ensued in March of 2020. After two years, I transitioned to my current position as Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), where I resumed my leadership responsibilities in the Behavioral Health Units, with added responsibilities of overseeing the Behavioral Health Clinic, Respiratory Therapy, Sleep Lab, Wound Healing, Patient Experience, and Nursing Recruitment and Retention. Additionally, I completed a Master of Science in Nursing in Administration and Leadership in May of 2020 through an online program.
Throughout my various leadership roles at White River Medical Center, I have spearheaded numerous initiatives. These include the implementation of a Bedside Clinical Ladder Program to support the growth of our frontline staff, the establishment of a Virtual Monitoring Program to enhance patient safety and enable patient care techs to remain in their preferred roles at the bedside, the introduction of multiple recognition programs and competitions, the incorporation of Huddle Boards in our nursing departments to foster communication from leadership, and the creation of a Quarterly Engagement Presentation to update employees on metrics such as Patient Satisfaction Scores, Employee Stay Interview results, and Recognitions. Furthermore, I developed a Mental Health Advocate Program in collaboration with Dr. Patrick Mulick, a clinical psychologist, to address burnout and mental health concerns among our employees.
I am also actively involved in my community, serving as a Senior Examiner for the Governor’s Quality Award Program, where I contribute to my organization’s application process and improvement initiatives, as well as gain insights into other organizations’ practices in our state. Additionally, I serve on the Family Violence Prevention board, which oversees women’s and men’s shelters and a Rape Crisis Center. Within this role, I advocate for overcoming challenges and actively participate in the fundraising committee to raise awareness and donations for these shelters. Moreover, I engage in volunteer activities through White River Health, collaborate with school districts, and actively participate in community events such as the annual Golf Classic and the Cave City Watermelon Festival. As a member of the First United Methodist Church, I prioritize my faith alongside my professional and community engagements and love to assist in the churches Wednesday night children’s program.
Beyond my professional and community pursuits, I firmly believe in the importance of continuous learning. I actively seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in nursing and behavioral health. Currently, I am pursuing continuing education credits to obtain my National Certification in Nursing Administration, further enhancing my skills in my current role. Additionally, I am taking online courses to obtain certification in American Sign Language, driven by personal interest.
While I am proud of my professional achievements, I also place great value on my faith and personal life, recognizing the significance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and investing time in my personal relationships. I have been happily married to my husband, Jonathan, for 10 years, and we are blessed with two beautiful girls, Raney Grace (7) and Noah June (3). In my leisure time, I enjoy activities such as hiking, being on the water, practicing Yoga/Pilates, hunting, and exploring our beautiful state.
As a young leader, I have already accomplished many things that I am deeply proud of. I aspire to continue growing not only as a leader within White River Health but also as an active member of my community and state. Through my work, commitment to community involvement, pursuit of knowledge, and dedication to a balanced life, I aim to inspire not only my daughters but also others, encouraging them to strive for excellence, make a positive impact, and lead fulfilling lives.
